The El Primero -- whose name in Esperanto conveys the universality of a humanist calling -- features a perfectly integrated automatic integrated chronograph movement and is the only watch of its time that's capable of measuring short time intervals to a tenth of a second. This extraordinary performance made possible by the use of a balance-wheel oscillating at the frequency of 36,000 alternations per hour. Flaunting the beauty and precision that has distinguished Zenith as a watchmaker since 1865, the Grande Port-Royal El-Primero is made with the finest materials, including a 40-millimeter stainless steel case, bezel and bracelet. Protected with a scratch-resistant sapphire window, the black guilloche dial features three chronograph sub-dials, Arabic numeral hour markers, and a display date between the four and five o'clock positions. This men's automatic watch is water resistant to 165 feet.

A most distinctive watch


All Zenith's are special -- each has a manufacture movement with spot-on accuracy. The El-Primero movement stands alone as the first automatic chronograph movement ever; this venerable movement is still going strong after being introduced in 1969. This particular Grande Port-Royal is a magnificent piece, combining a beautiful chronograph in a dress watch. Its a timeless classic that clearly shows good taste and a great choice.
